Bristol Mayor, Marvin Rees, joined ExcludedUK and fellow mayors Andy Burnham (Manchester) and Steve Rotheram (Liverpool) earlier this evening at a live event, where people who have been excluded from the government coronavirus financial support schemes, shared more stories of how this is affecting, not just their businesses, but the knock-on effect to their families and highlighting the impact this is having on their mental health.
Marvin Rees promised he would be working with his fellow mayors going forward to ensure the government is made aware of the wider implications of being ExcludedUK.
Andy Burnham called on the Chancellor to listen to these people who he described as , 'the heart-beat of our communities' and went onto say, 'the time is now.'
He also called upon the media to speak out in this critical time.
ExcludedUK would like the thank the following people for sharing their 'ExcludedUK' story.
TO WATCH THE CONFERENCE:
ExcludedUK is a non profit grassroots NGO founded to provide a platform for those denied fair and adequate financial support from the Governments COVID-19 Support schemes since the pandemic began in March. With a community of over 60,000 members across all industries, age groups and regions, we estimate that three million UK tax payers have been excluded from the same support as others, which has lead to thousands of people losing their livelihoods, careers, and homes, and sadly, for some, their lives.
ExcludedUK has been fundraising to provide urgent help and support for those affected in the forms of business and career advice, debt support and 121 counselling sessions within 48 hours. Please find more information on our website www.excludeduk.org.
