Local counsellors in the Midlands town of Solihull have identified the severity and impact of the thousands within their region who are falling through the cracks.
Following the findings from ExcludedUK on the lack of adequate support for millions of taxpayers it is refreshing to hear from local counsellors who are beginning to realise just how badly this is affecting those in their areas. The Government have recently announced a new package of support for Local Authorities to direct urgent funding to those who are able to confirm they're entitled to it.
Cllr Ade Adeyemo, leader of the Lib Dems, said there needed to be a "stronger emphasis" on throwing a lifeline to those being left behind.
"32 per cent [of self employed] are ineligible ... which means 3,718 local people who have been ineligible for support.
"I am just trying to say that when we are sending this through let's just emphasise that fact that we would like those people in Solihull to get the same support."

ExcludedUK is a non profit grassroots NGO founded to provide a platform for those denied fair and adequate financial support from the Governments COVID-19 Support schemes since the pandemic began in March. With a community of over 60,000 members across all industries, age groups and regions, we estimate that three million UK tax payers have been excluded from the same support as others, which has lead to thousands of people losing their livelihoods, careers, and homes, and sadly, for some, their lives.
ExcludedUK has been fundraising to provide urgent help and support for those affected in the forms of business and career advice, debt support and 121 counselling sessions within 48 hours. Please find more information on our website www.excludeduk.org.
