ExcludedUK Newsroom

BREAKING: ExcludedUK  prepares for the Westminster Hall Debate chaired by Munira Wilson MP on Wednesday 9 December, 4.30pm-5.30pm on Support for people ineligible for Government Covid-19 support schemes.

ExcludedUK has published an updated briefing paper on the context and background now over 8 months on, which you can find at this link: https://f.hubspotusercontent00.net/hubfs/7753901/Sonali/ExcludedUK%20briefing%20notes_8%20December%202020.pdf

Nearly 3 million UK taxpayers have been excluded, and simply do not accept the repeated assertions from the Government that these exclusions were necessary to combat fraud, were a result of the schemes being implemented at speed or that there was need to avoid complexity, and that not everyone will have been helped in the way they would have liked. This is simply unacceptable, the exclusions are unfair and unjust, and these people need urgent support.

The Chancellor has had over 8 months to address the disparities in the schemes, not least last month’s Spending Review. And with CJRS and SEISS having been extended until March 2021, nearly 3 million UK taxpayers will have gone one whole year without support. Unless of course changes are made to include the excluded and to account for the ever-increasing financial hardship they face.

We urge you to follow the debate and report immediately on behalf of those near 3 million UK taxpayers who have been affected by this injustice.

ExcludedUK is a non profit grassroots NGO founded to provide a platform for those denied fair and adequate financial support from the Governments COVID-19 Support schemes since the pandemic began in March. With a community of over 60,000 members across all industries, age groups and regions, we estimate that three million UK tax payers have been excluded from the same support as others, which has lead to thousands of people losing their livelihoods, careers, and homes, and sadly, for some, their lives.

ExcludedUK has been fundraising to provide urgent help and support for those affected in the forms of business and career advice, debt support and 121 counselling sessions within 48 hours. Please find more information on our website www.excludeduk.org.
